Archeological Summer School Day 2
Another set of fresh faces eager to get going this morning! We thoroughly enjoyed working with Rita dressing up, grinding wheat to make flour, examining Viking tools and jewellery, weaving willow, learning to play Viking board games and weapons training with a sword. Phew!! And on top of all that, then we got to head over to the dig site. More exciting discoveries of pottery, glassware, writing on paper, and metalworking evidence of iron working at the excavation site kept us enthralled. A brilliant, brilliant day had by all and we thank Keith Beattie from the Lough Neagh Partnership and the team from the Centre for Community Archaeology, Queens University Belfast for giving us this amazing opportunity to be mini archaeologists!
